Our snowless snowman....

I have to admit, I really wish we would get one good snow.
That's it.
Not a big blizzard, like last year.
Just enough to cover the ground and be able to play in.

Unfortunately that doesn't look very hopeful.

but that doesn't stop us from making a snowman.

All you need is:
empty tp roll
paint
construction paper
buttons
ribbon
black marker

Then let your kids get their hands dirty.....

Isn't he cute??

I think it's safe to say, this will be our only snowman we make this year.

How about you?

{2012 Organizing Goals}

It's dark and gloomy here in TN and I'm finding it hard to get motivated.

So I thought I would share some of my organizing goals (via pinterest) with you in the hopes that it will be enough motivation for me to get started today.....and maybe you too ; )

1. Organizing Kids school work.
With having two kids in school and one already in 4th grade, this is at the top of my list!

2. Organized Pantry
Okay I know I said I was doing this a while back, but unfortunately it never got done. I love the baskets here and the use of storage for things other than food.

3. Organizing Pictures
This would be a huge accomplishment for me to get done! My pictures are all over the place and I don't want to risk loosing anymore than I already have.

4. Keep the paper clutter away!
For some reason this is a constant battle for me. So I am determined to put that to an end!

5. Last but not least: Daily List
I am a visual person. If I see it I can do it. So I want to be consistent in using a daily list to help me accomplish my goals.

Mountain getaway....

The day after Christmas we all packed up and headed to the Smokies.

We planned the trip last minute.

Which I don't recommend as we almost couldn't find a cabin (especially one pet friendly).

However, we got lucky and found the perfect place for all of us to stay...including Pilot!

The location could not have been any better and the creek running along the side was well worth the search.

I'm not going to lie though...the inside was outdated and felt a little cluttered.

Fortunately the kids could care less.

The mountain, creek, fire pit, and hot tub in the backyard was all they cared about.

We only stayed two nights. So we didn't have time to do a whole lot, but we did manage to go to the Ripley's Aquarium.

It was crowded (thanks to the rain) , but fun and the kids enjoyed it.

after that we took the kids to the arcade for some games.

Avery and Dawson both hit the jack-pot!! ; )

This was Pilot's first trip with us.

He did great and loved curling up by the fire with us at night.

So there was our getaway.

Enjoy your weekend!

{Our Christmas....}

Wow...I can't believe how fast Christmas comes and goes. I hate to see (almost) all the Christmas come down.... that's why I still left a few "wintery" things around....

We had a wonderful Christmas spending time with all our family.
Every Christmas Eve we celebrate with Eddies family at their house.  We had the cutest snowman cake made out of cupcakes  by our sweet and talented niece, Claudia.

before we go the kids get to open their new pj's to wear. Which is a tradition we started a couple years ago.

Avery got matching pj's for her and her doll, Emily : )

Then on Christmas morning we actually got to wake up before the kids and start it off with this....

We love watching the excitement of the kids opening their gifts, but a new excitement this year was also watching pilot open his gifts from his stocking...

Avery gave each one of us handmade (from the house) gifts. It was so sweet and she was so happy to give them to us. She started this tradition last year and it's something I will treasure forever.

 Pilot loved his first Christmas!
Avery and Emily Christmas morning with matching hair and pj's ; )

After presents we have a big breakfast together that I make every year....

I made breakfast casserole, fruit, and red velvet pancakes that the kids cut out with Christmas cookie cutters.

The day after Christmas we took off for a little getaway here...

be back with more on that later ; )

Happy New Year everyone!!
