Halloween Re-cap......

Hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween.

I had two "scaries" this year. It took a lot of convincing, but they got their way.....

my little poser...

My little boy wanted to be scream So bad and apparently that was "the thing" to be this year for the boys.

Funny because, he will Never get to watch the movie!!

and of course this little one had to be something scary too......just like her brother.

........more scary trick-or-treating ; )

and all that candy they got for me.

Fall Break update....Warning: picture overload

I hope you all enjoyed a good laugh of my poor Pilot. The kids have been praying every night that he grows his hair back fast. lol! : )

Anyhow, we  went to Orange beach , AL for Fall break. It was fun! We all look forward to our beach trips.
Orange beach was the very first place we went as a family. Dawson was only 9 months now he is about to be 10!!
This is how I enjoyed my morning coffee....with this view from our balcony. It has been a while since we were right on the ocean with this kind of view. It was nice!

The kids were up and ready to go every morning.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of A playing in the sand....

and with this guy I got some really good profile pics - anything other than that....forget about it.

Avery really took off on her swimming this year.
Love this look on her face : )hee!

We stepped away from the beach one day and checked out the shrimp festival....which was a smorgasbord of food and vendors of every kind.
We got some food and then took off back to the beach....at least we can say we have been to the gulf shores shrimp festival now ; )

We can't go to the beach and not play put-put.
Avery got a hole in one here....
and Dawson needed help from his Dad. (haha! he would kill me)

On the last day of our trip I tried to get some family pictures.
Lets just pretend I meant for us to be out of focus..........

However, I did manage to get a few favorites.....

ok that's all for now. Today is flea market day : )

What's been keeping us away????

Our two week Fall break....

which just ended with a trip to the beach.
I have loads of pictures to share,  but for now....
I have to finish unpacking and stock up on some groceries (before we starve)

I'll leave you with a before and after picture of Pilot when he got his first (full body) hair cut.
We did not expect him to get this much cut.
It was quite the surpirse .... to say the least.

Tasty Tuesday: Hummus dip

I love hummus!! It is my go to snack and a lot of times I will have it for lunch! It's fast, easy, and tasty....and not to mention good for you.

I eat lots of veggies with mine and whole wheat pita pockets.

I will be honest, at first I did not like it. I had to "develop" a taste for it. It is pretty strong in flavor and  if its not made right it will taste horrible.

If you want to make it I followed THIS recipe.

Ok. Before I go I wanted share this girl being a silly little momma....

dressed in my roller clips, purse, and high heels!
Typical Avery : )
Hope everyone enjoys their day!

Craft and under the sink.....

Looking for a catchy title??  Well your not going to find one here...not today at least ; )

Anyways, incase you have been wondering where we have been....

the kids were out of school Wed. and Thurs. of last week.
So I prepared some crafts for us to do on those days to keep them busy.

Avery made her sunflower out of: paper plate, construction paper, beans, glitter, and glue.
I'm thankful that I still have one that likes to do crafts ; )

I also did a little crafting myself last week with my friend Heather. She motivated me to finally make a book page wreath for my shutters and then we a made book page leaf branches for some Fall decorating!

I really like how they turned out!

Now onto the "sink"....

As most of you know, I am on a  organizing mission. I am trying to do at least one drawer, closet , wherever needs organizing, a day.  (which is turning into more like a week!)

So far I have made a "command center"  with the message board and cleaned out a few cabinets including .... under the sink.

Here's a look :
Not a huge difference. Just a quick 10min fix!

I used what I had....hence the two different cabinet liners

I have to have a garbage can under my sink! I use it All the time! Though I would Love to have a custom pull out garbage, I have to make do with what I got.

I "re-purposed" my empty Clorox container to hold all my garbage sacks that stays right next to my garbage can.
There you have it....
nothing fancy, just clean and organized.

Tasty Tuesday: Broccoli Salad

Believe it or not...my kids Love this! Probably has something to do with it having sugar and cranberries in it, but hey, at least their eating their veggies ; )

I have been trying to find different things to put in my kids lunch box. Something other than they typical pb&j, bag of chips, fruit cup, and juice box....booooooring , and not necessarily the healthiest.
So I remembered them liking this broccoli salad and made a big batch for them to put in their lunch.
It's good, healthy, and nutritional.......and not boring!

Here's how you make it:

chop all your veggies and put in a big bowl. Add your cranberries, then mix your mayo (I use half mayo and half sour cream), vinegar, and sugar. Pour over salad and toss.

Add your crumbled bacon and pecans on top (you can toast your pecans...I don't or you can add any type of nut you like)

Then let it set in the fridge for a couple hours or overnight. It taste much better two or three days after.

A great way to eat your greens....with a little sugar ; )
P.S. don't you just love that vintage fabric my salad is sitting on????  A sweet friend gave me a ton of it and couple other patterns too. Can't wait to play with it!! ; )

DIY: Message Board

I finished making my message board and wanted to share with you!

You may remember me posting my inspiration HERE.  Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of the process...sorry...but I followed THESE instructions. I had to substitute homasote for foam board...my hardware store did not carry it.  I left off the pockets too...but I can always add later if I want.

Here is a view of what it used to look like....seemed very cluttered and un-organized. It drove me crazy!

Now I have everything in one place and at eye level for quick reminders. I love how it has dedicated sections for each person.  The "A" is for Avery, "D" is for Dawson, and (since I only made 3 spaces) I used "P" for anything not related to the kids.

This is what it looks like coming in from our garage....
and what it looks like from kitchen...
I am happy with the results.
I still have plans to (one of these days) add bead board underneath with hooks going all the way down, but for now this works!
