Christmas tour....Dinning room

It feels like Christmas around here....

now all we need is some snow....

I would love to have one good snow.... and that's all (preferably on Christmas day)

There's nothing better than a White Christmas!

Ok on to Christmas decorating....
The dinning room was the first to be done. I really like how it turned out. Even if it hadn't changed much from last year.

I love my Johnson Bros plate and wish I had the whole collection. I only have the one plate that sits pretty displayed on my hutch.  Also, I have two coffee cups that come out around Christmas time.

One of the new things I added this year is my lovely plaid table cloth I found at GW.  I have it draped down the center of my table and used my white enamel basin filled with poinsettia's as my center piece

Nothing fancy just classic and simple....the way I like it. I try not to spend to much on decorating by using natural elements like pinecones and greenery from my yard and gathering things from around my house that I can tie into Christmas.

And of course I can't leave with out a picture of our best decoration in the house...Mr. Pilot.

Happy Friday!!

Friday Feature: framed fabric...

I love the idea of using fabric as artwork. With so may great prints out there it's a great way to personalize your walls ...AND on a budget!

Here are some ideas on pinterest that caught my eye....

So I decided to put this idea to use and frame some for myself!

I had some framed prints laying around that I didn't care for, but didn't want to get rid of them. I liked the frame and matting.

So I went and picked out some fabric, ripped out the back, and got to work....

I cut my fabric to fit and used fabric adhesive spray to apply it to the print. I made sure to cut out the fabric to make each frame a little different.

And that was it....simple as that!! I got two new framed prints that I am now happy with. All for only $5!!! Can't beat that!!

Now all I need to do is hang them ; )

***Shutter Reveal***

Finally sharing my old shutters that I got at the Nashville flea market a while back.
I usally go to just "look" but this time I was "on the search" for some old shutters.....
and luckily I came arcoss these beauties ; )

I love that they are not your average white shutters but they have this lovely teal-ish greeen chippy paint on them....... they are missing a few pieces but, I think that just adds more charm .....

Now I just need to make a book page wreath to hang from it and ....I'm done!

So, there it is....let me know what you think.

Chalkboard.....

Today I share with you...........my new chalkboard!!

I don't know about you, but I love chalkboards! Seriously, I could have one in every room and wall!!  hee!

For this , I used a frame from an oil painting that we were no longer using.  However, I love the big chunky frame and hated for it to go to waste. So what to do???  Rip out the oil painting and make a chalkboard.....perfect-o!!!  The materials that I used are: ply-wood and CHALKBOARD PAINT
I used black but they have  many other colors.

I love that I can personalize it for different Holidays and special occasions.

So there you go..... oil painting turned chalkboard...much better ; )

{Friday Feature}

Avery's room...

Her initial above her bed I made out of canvas and cardboard letter from hobby lobby that I spray painted
I have always loved the tissue pom poms and thought I would give 'em a try for A's room.

They are SUPPER easy and CHEAP to make.

I think they are the perfect thing to fill up that space in the corner....great for parties, great for Avery's room ; )

  1. accordion rack-goodwill $3 used to hang all her purses, aprons, dress up clothes, ect..
  2. bird canvas-free given to me by my mom (which i think found at GW too)
  3. framed cork board- under $5..frame was free at yard sale and i bought the cork board at hobby lobby
  4. butterfly decals-found at marshals for under $10

There's Avery's room...

Hope everyone has a Fabulous weekend!!

Pumpkin patch, movie night, and outdoor decor....

Just some reasons why I have been MIA.
Dawson and Avery have been out for fall break the past 2 weeks.
The first week we had a wonderful time at the beach and this past week we tried to get out as much as we could.
Unfortunately, the weather here has been FREEZING cold and rainy everyday!
Here we are at Jackson's orchard in BG with some friends.
Like I said, it was cold and rainy but, we still had fun.
Friday night we had our family movie night.
We watched Monsters vs. Aliens.
Our treat was "my version" of Bob the blob in the movie.
Such a cute movie!

Last, I finally decorated my front porch for fall.
I have been dying to make a pumpkin topiary and finally did.
I love how it turned out!
For the pillow, I used fabric I had and stamped fall and the pumpkin on it.
Well, that is all for now.
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

Scored.....

On some goodwill finds for my pantry project!
I was inspired by this pantry in the Lowe's Creative Idea mag.
I love the chalk board doors and signs, and all the baskets.
Our pantry is quite small and can get unorganized pretty quickly.
On top of that, we tend to leave the door open most of the time.
All the more reason to make it look pretty!
So, stay tuned for before and after pictures.
And the final reveal of my new and improved pantry!!
( I'm hoping by posting this it will motivate me to finish...we'll see)

party, decorating and baking...

(for the lack of a better title) hehe!
We celebrated Avery's B-day Sat. with our family. It was really nice having everyone together and we truly missed the ones that were not able to come.

look at those shoes from Meme....LOVE them!

And... It never fails....every time my mother comes to my house she has to redecorate for me ( not that I am complaining) I am loving this lamp that she gave me....it matches my chairs Perfectly!

Lastly, I think it goes with out saying that the week before Christmas is on of the busiest weeks out of the year. However, we did manage to make one out of the three cookies on my list to make. I posted them on my blog or you can find them here: christmas-cookies-for-kids They were SO much fun and super easy for kids.... Dawson and Avery literally made them all by their selves ( with the exception of the dough) .
I hope everyone has a Very Merry Christmas! :)

My first diaper cake....

This was so much fun to make! I am having a baby shower for a friend this Saturday and wanted to make a diaper cake as a centerpiece. I have never made one before but now I am hooked!
It was so easy and the ideas of what you can do with them are endless! With this one I wanted to keep it simple and to the theme ....... Hot pink and Lime Green.
I hope she will like it!!
