Fathers Day Breakfast.....

Just wanted to share a little something I put together for Fathers Day.
I love looking at all the party blogs and try to think of reasons to have a party myself so I can replicate all those pretty decorations ; )
So, what better reason then on..... Fathers Day!

I know it's not "hostess with the mostess" worthy but, It was pretty good for me considering I threw together last minute and only used what I had laying around the house.

I used a basket as my stand for the trophy, which I spray painted from gold to metal (thanks mom) I put some white beans inside it to hold my flags. I made them from Popsicle sticks and craft paper. For the banner I already had some cut out from a previous banner I made and just painted the letters on from stamps.
I made our favorite breakfast casserole, blueberry muffins, and fresh fruit.
Most importantly, he was surprised and loved it!
So there you have it....Our Fathers Day Breakfast!

Birthday fun & Summer Jar...

I feel so lucky....

to have these two sweeties to celebrate my birthday with....

to have a hubby who (once again) out does himself  with the surprises.
he even made the card like a scrapbook page for me ... so cute!
I could not have asked for a better birthday!

So besides having a great birthday, I wanted to share our "Summer fun" jar with you.
I found this jar at GW and just embellished it a bit. I also made the paper match the outside.  The jar is filled with fun activities to get our day started. Some are big like, roller skating or pump it up, and some are small like, go on a bike ride or play in sprinkler. That's the fun of it, what ever they pick that's what we have to do that day.

They get so excited picking something from the jar and sometimes it's not exactly what they want but, like I said that's the fun of it.
 No matter what we always have "something" to do that day : )

Wordless Wednesday: {smores fun}

Summer + making smores = perfect! ; )

next post: Summer fun jar

Friday, June 03, 2011

hello summer....

It's our first official day of Summer and I am getting started on our Summer "to do" jar. I found my inspiration for this HERE only I will do one big jar instead of 3.  I found my perfect jar at GW yesterday! It's just waiting for me to embellish it and fill with lots of fun activities to do. I will post about it soon ; )

Besides the jar I am hoping to:  find and rent a lake house, go to a theme park, visit a new zoo, learn to paddle board, go camping and best of all ....end the summer with a new pool in our backyard! : ) I am crossing my fingers tight for that one

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Summer!

{ from tank to dress....}

A tank- top turned fun Summer dress!

I used a plain tank-top and two coordinating fabrics for my ruffles and skirt. I left the edges of the ruffles "raw" ...next time I will probably serge it or finish the edges somehow.

 I love that  it's all connected rather than making a separate skirt....that way you don't have to worry about anything getting un-tucked ... yet it has the look of being a skirt ; )

I will definitely be making more of these!  It's super fun and easy!

Give it a try!
